Veterans and military organizations are local, national or international groups or associations dedicated to protecting the rights of loyal veterans and military personnel currently serving in domestic or foreign wars. Such organizations are usually nonprofit associations, clubs, leagues, and society groups that provide a network of social, health, and legal defense services. Many veterans and military organizations rely on volunteer helpers to organize fundraising events, club meeting times, office hours and other business matters. Such nonprofit organizations are often funded with state or national grants, allowing for the association to provide a valuable service to the community, whether through social network, counsel services, health, veterans affairs, disabled veterans services, or women's advocacy services. Many veterans and military organizations directories list thousands of public and private associations and nonprofit organizations, searchable by location, name and address, size, statistics, non-profit or for-profit status, services, or meetings and seminars. Some of these sites charge a fee for the information, while others are free. Before choosing a veterans and military organizations organization to join, target organizations that offer exactly what you want, whether a focus on health, women, veterans affairs, peace promotion, Purple heart honors, or mental disorder help. There are organizations for every branch of the military, such as Army, Air Force, and Navy. Whether you were or are currently a part of an infantry division, an Army nurse, or a pilot, there is a veterans and military organization out there for you. Make appointments with each organization. Meet with staff and take note if staff members are helpful and accommodating. Speak with the organization members about their efforts and mission, and whether there is a place for you in their organization. Make sure the organization’s mission gels with your vision. Inquire about membership fees, and regular meetings or events you should attend.

Veterans' and military organizations provide multiple services for those who served in the United States armed forces. Many veterans and military organizations help veterans deal with the Untied States Department of Veterans Affairs. This assistance can range from obtaining benefits to getting an appointment at a veterans' hospital. In addition to serving as advocacy groups for veterans, many veterans' and military organizations own halls where veterans can get together with each other. Many veterans' and military organizations have auxiliary organizations that service the spouses of veterans. Veterans' and military organizations often organize fund-raisers for veterans' causes and help to raise awareness of veterans' needs. Some veterans' organizations are national, others are local.
